The trek to Choquequirao is very challenging and rewarding, with dramatic views of the Andes of Perú and the Apurimac River canyon. It is possible to do this trek in 3 days if you are physically fit and an experienced trekker. The 3 days trek is for people with a limited schedule,
and we highly suggest you stay a night before in Cachora so you can start the trek very early. The 17 km/ 10.625 trek from the trailhead Capuliyoc to the Marampata hostel could be done in one day, then the second day we can explore Choquequirao, and finally the third day we trek back to Capuliyoc where we wait for you a drive to Cachora to our guest house. On this trek you don't need to carry food or camping equipment because we set up food and lodging along the trail.
DAY 1: CACHORA- CAPULIYOC - CHIKISCA- PLAYA ROSALINA- MARAMPATA.
Wake up early in the morning at 5:30 AM with breakfast at 6:00 AM. After a good breakfast, we pack our stuff and embark on our adventure to Choquequirao. We will drive 30 minutes to Capuliyoc, the trail head, where we will begin the trek. Capuliyoc located at 11 km marker where you begin your adventure down the canyon with spectacular views of the mountains and deep valleys. After 4 hours, you will arrive at Playa Rosalina where the group will have lunch and rest before hiking up to Marampata. After a good lunch around 1:00pm, we jump back on the trail again, this is the challenging part of the day because the rest of the hike is all uphill, taking our time we will get to Santa Rosa in 2 hours on a slow pace. This is a great place to rest and have a local drink like chicha or other refreshing drinks. After our break we go back on the trail to hike the last 2 hours, to our destination Marampata.

DAY 2: MARAMPATA - CHOQUEQUIRAO - MARAMPATA.
The second day of our trip will be the most important and relaxing day, because we will have ONE DAY to explore Choquequirao. Wake up time will be at 6:00 AM followed 40 minutes later by a nutritional breakfast. at 7:30 AM we will start the hike to Choquequirao which takes around 1 and a half hours. On this day you will take a prepared box lunch with you then back in the afternoon to Marampata. Your guide will take you on a detailed tour to explore several Choquequirao sectors, such as farming terraces, principal plaza, ceremonial temples, store houses and the most important part of Choquequirao, the llama terraces. Later around 4:00 PM you will return to Marampata. Here you will again have lodging with a hot shower and dinner.

DAY 3: MARAMPATA- PLAYA ROSALINA - CHIKISCA- CAPULIYOC- CACHORA.
This is the last day of our challenging trek. We will wake up at 5:00 AM breakfast will be serve at 5:30 AM after a good breakfast we start our trekking at 6:00 AM. In about five hours we will get down to Chikisca, a place where we will have lunch around 1:00 PM. Once back on the trail, we will hike the last 4 hours uphill taking a slow pace to Capuliyoc, at this point our transport will be waiting to drive us back to Cachora. Once at our Choquequirao Guest House you will get a comfortable room with a hot shower, followed by a big dinner to celebrate the end of our adventure to Choquequirao.
