Horseback Riding to Apurimac Canyon

Horseback Riding to Apurimac Canyon

The Andes of Peru are spectacular snow-capped mountains incised by deep world-class river valleys. In our exclusive day tour of the Apurimac canyon, with breath-taking views, you will see an overprint of natural Andean environments and multi-generational farmed and terraced lands.  You will get a stunning and ready-to-be-photographed view of Mt.

Padreyoc in the Vilcabamba range, a majestic peak with an elevation of 5,771 meters/18,934 feet. This canyon is also home to the world’s largest flying bird, the Andean Condor, and the last remaining short-faced bear on Earth, the Spectacled Bear. Your Peruvian horses will be supplied by a local Quechua family in Cachora who raise the horses from the local landscape and vegetation.

We will begin at our Choquequirao Guest House at 8:00 AM where you will meet your local bilingual guide. You will be outfitted with a horse from a local Quechua family who are expert horsemen and will also attend the ride. We will ride for three hours to get to the best view point and lunch spot. While you walk around to take in all the beauty, we will set-up a delicious picnic. After lunch, we will ride horses back to our guest house and celebrate with a warm Quechua dinner.
